Void Studies II

2018, ink on paper, 40x29x8cm. Photographer: Document Photography.

This work extends the investigation of Void Studies I through a reduced formal structure. Ink is poured onto a single sheet of paper and gently moved across its surface, allowing it to pool and settle. As it dries and contracts, the ink reshapes the paper, producing a form that records the interaction between surface and substance.

The work develops in response to the conditions of its making. Variations in temperature, humidity and airflow subtly affect how the ink moves and dries, influencing the final form as it emerges.
