National Contemporary Jewellery Award

I'm delighted to report that I have been awarded this year's National Contemporary Jewellery Award. My entry was a series of four brooches titled Grid.

The award is an acquisitive prize sponsored by Griffith City Council and held at Griffith Regional Art Gallery every two years. The gallery has been collecting contemporary jewellery as an acquisition from the National Contemporary Jewellery Award since 1988. The collection consists of pieces from some of Australia's foremost makers, which mark important moments in the Australian contemporary jewellery movement, so I'm thrilled that my work will now take a place in this collection.

A much deserved congratulations goes to all the finalists, especially to Felix Gill who won the Sturt Artist in Residency Award for his neckpiece 'Red Squadron' and to Jessamy Pollock who was awarded a solo exhibition at Courtesy Of The Artist for her series of brooches 'Wearable Maquettes'.

The exhibition of finalists' works will be on at Griffith Regional Gallery from 4th - 28th September 2014. It will then tour to Courtesy Of The Artist (Sydney) from 2nd October - 1st November 2014, and Sturt Australian Contemporary Craft and Design (Mittagong) from 12th December 2014 - early February 2015.
