Disentanglement
2018, video performance with linen thread, single-channel digital video, 16:9, 15 min 15 sec, edition of 3 + 2 AP.
Disentanglement is a video performance in which a mass of tangled linen thread is slowly worked through by hand. Over time, the entangled strands are drawn apart, loosened and separated through a sustained, repetitive action. The work unfolds through duration, resistance and persistence. Moments of progress are uneven, often interrupted by further knots and returns, as the material resists being fully resolved. What emerges is a process of gradual release, in which tension is redistributed rather than eliminated, and disentanglement remains partial and ongoing.
