Cleave is a diptych formed through a process of union and separation. The two sheets of paper are worked together as a single surface. Paint is allowed to pool and settle across the unified plane. Once dry, the sheets are split apart and framed separately. When installed, they are positioned in relation to one another, held apart by a gap that marks the point of division—a tension between separation and connection.
